Thigh, Hip, Buttock Lift PDF Print
For patients seeking help treating difficult-to-lose deposits of fat around the upper legs and buttocks, or for patients who have lost a significant amount of weight, a thigh lift may be in order. For patients seeking treatment for fatty deposits around the thighs and buttocks, which are typically not responsive to diet and exercise, a thigh lift combined with some liposuction can give you a leaner, fitter appearance with firmer, more youthful skin. If you have successfully lost a significant amount of weight you may find that the skin around you thighs and buttocks is loose, sagging, or prone to wrinkles and “orange peeling” due to the excess of tissue. Such a condition can lead to rash, irritation or infection of the affected area and many patients have more than simple cosmetic concerns when considering corrective surgery.

A thigh lift removes the excess skin that can accumulate on our upper legs when we have large fat deposits in the region, and can be combined with liposuction to remove fat deposits as well. Each patient is different, and your procedure may be focused solely on the thighs or may extend to the hips, groin, or buttocks depending on the extent of the work and the desired outcome. In most cases, incisions (and subsequent scars) can be hidden in the natural creases and contours of the body to be as invisible as possible after healing.

Patients desiring only liposuction may, at the discretion of your surgeon, only be treated with a local anesthetic so that you may be awake during the procedure. More extensive liposuctions or full lifting procedures will require a general anesthetic. Because these procedures are on a highly muscular area, bruising and swelling can be significant in the days after the procedure. Patients are advised to only exert as much effort as is comfortable, and in most instances typical light activities (walking, work, school) can be resumed between three and ten days after the procedure. Strenuous exercise such as running or jogging must be avoided for two to three months to ensure full and safe healing of the legs.

If you are interested in a consultation regarding liposuction or lifting of the thighs and would like a personal consultation, please contact our offices to schedule an appointment with Dr. Ziesmann so that he may advise you of the recommended procedure for you and answer any of your questions.
